A bit on designing a website for a hotel, motel, or bed & breakfast.
Potential visitors are looking for 2-3 things: Price, Pictures, and Feedback!
If you can provide your website visitors with large, beautiful pictures of the rooms and surrounding area on the homepage… you’ve got them hooked. They will next want to see how much this great room is going to cost them – make sure that link is prominent!
On the homepage, rates/prices page, and pretty much every webpage… include short excerpts from past visitors. Positive feedback from regular people who have already resided at your lodging facility establishes excellent confidence in your potential visitors!
The icing on the cake would be an online reservation system with rooms and dates that you have available. My software of choice, due to price and flexibility, would be http://www.AvailabilityOnline.com. They charge under $100 per year and give you the control to update your availability at any time… for each individual room.
